MADRID 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Syria, Asaad Shaibani, announced this Monday that he will travel to Saudi Arabia in what will be his first official visit abroad since he took office after the fall of the Bashar al Assad regime in early December following a offensive led by rebels and jihadists.
Shaibani has reported on his social networks that he has received an invitation from his Saudi counterpart, Faisan bin Farhan, which he has accepted with the aim of “building strategic relations” between both countries. “It is an honor for me to represent my country on the first official visit,” he said.
The new Syrian authorities have been established after the fall of Al Assad due to the lightning offensive launched by jihadists and rebels led by Hayat Jahrir al Sham (HTS), whose leader Ahmed Hussein al Shara, known as Abu Mohamed al Golani, is the current ‘de facto’ leader of the Asian country.
