The Taliban threaten to close NGOs that employ women

MADRID 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Taliban regime has ordered all NGOs, “domestic and foreign”, to fire all women they may have hired, otherwise it reserves the right to order the closure of these organizations, in line with other discriminatory measures. adopted since the return of the fundamentalists to power more than three years ago.

The Ministry of Economy has published this order on social networks, as the authority responsible for the registration and supervision of the activity of NGOs and as a reminder of a previous ruling. “In the event that (the organizations) do not cooperate, all activities of the offending party and the activity permit will be suspended,” the note reads.

In recent years, the Taliban have recovered the sexist restrictions that they already imposed during their first stage in power, which has translated into the progressive expulsion of women from public spaces. At the educational level, girls can no longer access secondary education.
