MADRID 9 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The United States authorities announced this Thursday the delivery of a new aid package to Ukraine valued at 500 million dollars (about 486 million euros) within the framework of a new meeting in the Ramstein format to coordinate military support to kyiv in the context of the Russian invasion.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has indicated that this is a new assistance package and has noted that it includes additional surface-to-air missiles for the Ukrainian Air Force, as well as ammunition and equipment for F-16 fighters.
Austin highlighted that in recent weeks several countries have committed to making contributions to the Ukrainian Government. In this sense, he has specifically named Germany, the country where the meeting is taking place and which recently announced the delivery of 680 million euros in aid.
He has also praised the actions of Norway and the United Kingdom, among others, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency. However, the countries that have given the most aid to Ukraine since the start of the war based on their GDP are Denmark, Estonia and Latvia.
Austin has emphasized that Ukraine’s partners have “expanded their production of weapons and ammunition” globally and noted that kyiv receives “a large number of systems including artillery, ammunition and tanks.”
In addition, he thanked all those attending this Thursday’s summit, the first edition of which was held in April 2022, while highlighting the “fruitful cooperation” necessary for Ukraine to confront Russia’s attacks.
