MADRID 30 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, met late this Friday with the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, after the American magnate promised last Monday to impose a 25 percent tariff on “everyone” imports from Mexico and Canada.
According to Bloomberg, Trudeau landed in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Friday night, people familiar with the plans said, speaking on condition of anonymity to share details about the meeting.
Trudeau and Trump dined accompanied by Canadian Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc – whose portfolio includes border security – as well as Trudeau’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, according to these sources.
The American president-elect promised to charge a 25 percent tariff on all products entering the United States from Mexico and Canada. “On January 20, as one of my many first executive orders, I will sign all the necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25 percent tariff on all products and their ridiculous open borders,” he said.
The Republican made this decision because of the “illegal aliens” and “crime and drugs” that, he declared, cross the border.
In another message, Trump announced that he will increase the tariffs that Chinese imports already face by ten percent, until the Asian giant prevents the flow of drugs to the United States, also especially fentanyl.
