The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Monday his willingness to use the military to carry out his mass deportation policies once he takes office in the White House starting in January.
Trump has shared on his Truth Social account a message from the leader of the conservative Judicial Watch movement, Tom Fitton, in which he mentions that he will declare a national emergency in order to have military resources to implement his promise of mass deportations. “True,” the tycoon wrote.
“Good news. There are reports that Donald Trimp’s incoming administration is prepared to declare a national emergency and use military assets to reverse Biden’s invasion through a mass deportation program,” is Fitton’s message shared by this Monday the Republican.
Around eleven million people live and work in an irregular situation in the United States. Trump’s idea of kicking them out of the country could affect some 20 million families, according to figures published by the news portal Axios.
A week ago, Tom Homan was appointed head of immigration policy. The known as ‘border czar’ is considered the ideologue behind the separation of thousands of children from their families in the first Trump administration, while Kristi Noem has been chosen as Secretary of Homeland Security.
After being behind the largest deportation ever carried out, that of 2013 under the Democratic administration of Barack Obama, with around 432,000 expulsions, Homan is considered the main ideologue of the 2017 ‘zero tolerance’ policy that involved separating children of their parents when crossing the border.
