Venezuela closes the border with Colombia until Monday due to an international “conspiracy”

MADRID 10 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The governor of the Venezuelan state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, has announced the closure of the border with Colombia until next Monday, given the alleged “information of an international conspiracy to disturb the peace” that would coincide with the start of the new presidential term in Venezuela .

Bernal has stated that the measure responds to an “instruction” from President Nicolás Maduro and will be in force for four days, starting at 5:00 a.m. (local time) this Friday. The governor has appealed for the “understanding” of people who may be affected, particularly those who cross the border daily.

“Rest assured that we have absolute control of the State and we will guarantee under any circumstances the tranquility and peace of all the people of Chira,” Bernal emphasized, in a video released by his office on social networks.

Migration Colombia had already warned in a recent statement that it saw “possible” a closure of the common border in view of the presidential investiture organized by Maduro in Caracas this Friday and in view of the anticipation that the opponent Edmundo González could also try to enter Venezuela. .
