MADRID 7 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of the Interior of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, announced this Tuesday that the country’s authorities have managed to dismantle an alleged “very dangerous” group of mercenaries originating in the United States and Colombia, and which could be linked to the opposition.
“We have just dismantled a very dangerous group (…) of foreign mercenaries from the United States and Colombia with Venezuelan sectors,” Minister Cabello, considered one of President Nicolás Maduro’s trusted men, said during a public event.
According to Cabello, the Venezuelan contacts of this alleged group of mercenaries would be “very close to the drunks, the cowards who left the country,” alluding to the opposition, “demonstrating their plans.” The minister has indicated that more details will be given in this regard.
These statements by Cabello occur on a day in which the main opposition leader, María Corina Machado, has announced the call for international demonstrations for this Thursday in support of the candidate Edmundo González, considered the winner of the elections ahead of Ripe.
However, the ruling party has also called on its supporters to gather in the streets of Venezuela in support of Maduro before the inauguration next Friday. Both President Maduro and González have stated that they will assume the head of state of Venezuela.
