Venezuela offers more than 97,000 euros as a reward for information leading to the capture of Edmundo González

The Bolivarian National Police of Venezuela (PNBV) has published this Thursday an arrest warrant against the opposition Edmundo González and has set a reward of 100,000 dollars (just under 97,500 euros) for information that facilitates the arrest of the self-proclaimed winner of the last elections. presidential elections and who is exiled in Spain.

“Arrest warrant against Edmundo González Urrutia for crimes against the peace of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. Anyone who has information must report it immediately,” the Police stated on their official profile on the social network Instagram, where they have shared a photograph of the search warrant for the dissident veteran.

The text highlights that González is being sought by the Venezuelan Justice for the alleged crimes of “conspiracy, complicity in the use of violent acts against the Republic, usurpation of functions, forging of documents, money laundering, ignorance of the institutions of the State, incitement to disobedience of the laws and association to commit a crime, among others”.

At the beginning of September, the Venezuelan Justice issued an arrest warrant against González, who declared himself the winner of the presidential elections held at the end of July and in which the National Electoral Council (CNE) gave victory to the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro. results that have been questioned internationally and in which the opposition seeks to legitimize his intention to take office this January 10.

Maduro already justified the arrest order by considering it “inadmissible” that González “does not recognize the laws”, in reference to his rejection of both the electoral results and the institutions controlled by Chavismo that have endorsed the elections. The arrest warrant against the Venezuelan dissident was also widely rejected by much of the international community in another setback for Maduro.
