Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin has now agreed a contract in principle with Real Betis, as talks between the Gunners and Verdiblancos continue amid interest from around Europe.

Hector Bellerin only interested in Real Betis as Arsenal exit talks continue
Arsenal have accepted that Hector Bellerin is only interested in a transfer to Real Betis this summer. That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who claim the Emirates Stadium hierarchy have now conceded that they will not be able to secure their full €10m (£8.5m) valuation.

The Gunners have presented Bellerin with bids from around Europe in the hopes of getting a strong price for him. But the right-back has snubbed opportunities to return to La Liga at Atletico Madrid or Villarreal or possible moves to Serie A at Roma, Inter Milan or Juventus.

Bellerin is now in the final year of his contract at Arsenal after returning to north London in the summer. He spent last season on loan at Real Betis, where his revived form convinced Gunners chiefs they would be able to command a sizable figure for his permanent transfer.

But the Spaniard is only interested in joining Manuel Pellegrini’s club if he is to move in the final month of the market. Bellerin has also already agreed personal terms in principle for a four-year contract at the Estadio Benito Villamarin, as well, ahead of any potential return.

Bellerin is prepared to hold out for a transfer to Real Betis while the Seville outfit negotiate with Arsenal. His agents have also met the Gunners several times to explain his decision to return to Pellegrini’s side, for whom he is even willing to sacrifice half of his salary to join.

Hector Bellerin now arguably fourth-choice in Mikel Arteta’s plans
Real Betis could sign Bellerin in a matter of days if Arsenal accept their interest is the only viable transfer. He has no realistic future at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, who omitted the £110k-a-week dynamo from the matchday squad that won 2-0 at Crystal Palace on Friday.

Ben White started at full-back, instead of the defender Gunners great Lauren once dubbed ‘world-class’. Cedric Soares, another natural right-back, was also on the bench at Selhurst Park, with first-choice Takehiro Tomiyasu still currently recovering from a hamstring issue.
