WHO urges to “stop attacking hospitals” in Gaza to guarantee health care

MADRID 30 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, denounced this Monday new attacks against medical centers in the Gaza Strip and has demanded an end to this type of actions, days after an unprecedented assault by Israeli troops on the Kamal Aduan Hospital.

“We repeat: stop attacking hospitals. The people of Gaza need medical attention,” Tedros claimed, in a message posted on his social network account X and in which he once again called for a ceasefire between the Armed Forces. of Israel and the Palestinian militias.

The Kamal Aduan Hospital, a reference for the north of the Strip, has been inoperative since the raid that forced the evacuation of all patients and resulted in numerous arrests, including that of the center’s director, Hussam Abu Safiya. Two days later, “his whereabouts are unknown”, so Tedros has demanded his “immediate” release.

The most serious patients have been transferred to the Indonesian Hospital, from which sick people have also been evacuated to Al Shifa Hospital, in Gaza City. Israeli forces have detained four patients in one of these transfers to Al Shifa, according to sources cited by the Palestinian agency WAFA.

“We urge Israel to guarantee the health care they need and respect for their rights,” Tedros said in the wake of this latest incident.
